To further revitalization efforts in downtown, the City of Sarasota worked in cooperation with private developers to produce an in-fill solution for an old surface parking lot. The Design Group developed a multi-use plan that included 10 stories of high end residential loft units merged with a six-level parking structure and a retail liner building. Our vision included various plan configurations with rooftop penthouses and an elevated courtyard between loft units. The architectural design includes modern “crystal palace” sections containing floor to ceiling glass walls that visually connect occupants with the streetscape below, and more traditional solid facades offer 9’x9’ window openings starting at the floor level. Each unit’s balcony railing is designed with a lacy pattern that echoes the arched arcade signature theme from the ground level.
